The Harrison County West Virginia Historical Society, Inc. is a volunteer-based nonprofit that engages with our community by preserving, collecting, educating, and demonstrating the history and culture of Harrison County and North-Central West Virginia.
Vision
As a membership and volunteer-based non-profit organization in Harrison County, WV, the HCWVHS pledges to engage with our community to preserve, collect, educate, and demonstrate the history and cultural influences of Harrison County and North Central West Virginia.
Our goal is to be part of community development and economic growth in Harrison County with pride in our heritage and future.
A priority goal of the Society is the conservation of the Stealey Goff Vance House in Clarksburg and preservation of historic property, archives and collections and to make them available to the community through displays and educational activities.
Engaging the Community
Leaders of the Society actively engages the community by:
Developing partnerships with various local government agencies, local organizations, cultural, educational and historic entities.
Providing opportunities for members of the community to participate in volunteer roles with various projects.
